30 Best Kindle Unlimited Romance Books That Will Hook You In

There was a time when I thought there weren’t good romance books on Kindle Unlimited. It was the first time I got a KU subscription and I could NOT find good romance books on the featured lists. Honestly, what a shame!

Kindle Unlimited is helpful if you can’t afford to buy every single book that you want to read and you devour books quickly. For a fixed price, you can borrow and read as many books as you want. And that’s why I was so bummed when I couldn’t find good romance books easily.

There are SO MANY fantastic Kindle Unlimited romance books and it’s a travesty that they’re not prominently advertised or easily found. Finding good books among the several available is hard, and that’s where this list comes in.

Of course, there are way too many good romance books on KU for me to list them all but I will mention the best out of what I’ve read so far. I’ll also be updating this list regularly as I read more and more books.

And the cherry on top? Many of the authors mentioned here have other romance books available on Kindle Unlimited too! So if you like a book, you can easily read more by them.

Steam levels explanation:

 None – no explicit scenes.

Low – one or two steamy scenes.

Average – few detailed explicit scenes.

High – good amount of/regular detailed steamy scenes.

1. Gouda Friends by Cathy Yardley

gouda friends by Cathy Yardley

Tam Doan dumped her boyfriend after he threw away her gourmet cheese. Sure, it’s a little more complicated than that, but the point is, he had it coming. Newly single and unemployed, Tam calls up her best friend from high school and utters the emergency code word—goldfish. Next thing she knows, she’s on a plane back home.

Josh O’Malley was a troubled, unconfident teenager. Now he’s the successful owner of a multimillion-dollar ghost kitchen. Tam, his high school BFF and fellow member of the Nerd Herd friend group, was instrumental in building his self-esteem. When she calls him out of the blue, he jumps at the chance to return the favor.

Josh and Tam immediately get to work fixing her life—but again, it’s complicated. Their close friendship was always a lifeline between them; a blooming romance might confuse things. Still, at least one thing is for certain: their chemistry is un-brie-lievable.

Gouda Friends is a comforting romance that is also about reinventing oneself and finding your path later than expected. The main character has to start over with her career and I loved reading about her journey.

Quick selling points:

  • Estranged best friends to lovers.
  • Hardcore cheese lover main lead.
  • Dream friend group.
  • Cute and comforting.

Steam level: Low.

2. Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree

Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree book cover

High Fantasy with a double-shot of self-reinvention

Worn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv the orc barbarian cashes out of the warrior’s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and an unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city has ever seen.

However, her dreams of a fresh start pulling shots instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thune’s shady underbelly may just upset her plans. To finally build something that will last, Viv will need some new partners and a different kind of resolve.

A hot cup of fantasy slice-of-life with a dollop of romantic froth.

A fantasy romance that is unlike anything I’ve read before. If you want a book with more plot about something else and some romance thrown in, this is for you.

Quick selling points:

  • Fantasy slice-of-life.
  • Coffee shop setting.
  • Low stakes i.e. not much action or fighting.
  • The best cast.
  • Main lead reinvents herself.

Steam level: None.

3. The Last Eligible Billionaire by Pippa Grant

the last eligible billionaire

Emotionally unavailable doesn’t even begin to describe my new fake boyfriend. He’s cold. He’s distant. He has more defenses than a nuclear missile silo. And he’s the ultimate catch of the century. At least, according to his bank statement.

My job’s simple: Keep Hayes Rutherford’s matchmaking relatives and all interested ladies away from the cranky, grumpy, walled-off heir to my favorite movie empire, and in return, he won’t ruin my life over a teensy, tiny little misunderstanding.

But the more I sneak past Hayes’s walls and fences, the more I realize that while we might be from different worlds, we have more in common than either of us expected. The man under all the glitz, glamour, and dollar signs could be the real love of my life.

But you know what they say about fake dating a billionaire—it’s all fun and games until the scandals start.

This book was NOT what I expected in the best way. I read it in one sitting because it was so good and I even reread my favourite parts immediately after.

Quick selling points:

  • Fake dating trope.
  • Grumpy x sunshine romance.
  • Hilarious!
  • Slow burn romance.

Steam level: Average.

P. S. The author has several other books on Kindle Unlimited.

4. The Risk by S. T. Abby

the risk by S. T. Abby book cover

They took too much.
Left too little.
I had nothing to lose…until him.

~Lana~

I didn’t expect him.
I didn’t want to fall in love.
But I can’t let him go.
Logan Bennett makes the world a safer place.
He’s brilliant.
He’s a hero.
He locks away the sick and depraved.
But while he’s saving lives, I’m taking them. Collecting the debts that are owed to me.
Ten years ago, they took from me. They left me for dead.
They should have made sure I stayed dead.
Now I’m taking from them.
One name at a time.
I’ve trained for too long.
I’ve been patient.
I can’t stop now.
Revenge is best served cold…
They never see me coming, until I paint their walls red.

Logan doesn’t know how they hurt me. He doesn’t know about the screams they ignored. He doesn’t know how twisted that town really is.
He just knows people are dying.
He doesn’t know he’s in love with their killer.
No one suspects a dead girl.
And Logan doesn’t suspect the girl in his bed.
They’re looking for a monster.
Not a girl who loves red.
Not a girl in love.
I’m a faceless nightmare.
At least until I tell them the story they’ve pretended never happened.

But in the end, will Logan choose them? Or will we watch them burn together?

This book is one with very flawed characters so don’t pick this up if you’re expecting mature leads who know what they’re doing all the time. The characters here each have their baggage and are just Doing Their Best.

Quick selling points:

  • The book covers are atrocious but this book series is AMAZING.
  • Serial killer main character, FBI agent love interest who is hunting her.
  • Easy writing, easy to read.
  • Gray morality but on the darker side.
  • Will keep you on the edge of your seat.
  • Read trigger warnings before picking up the book.

Steam level: high.

5. For Vacation Only by Mila Nicks

for vacation only book cover

When wealthy Blake Mulligan gets jilted at the altar, he breaks free of his ‘predictable’ reputation by going on the honeymoon cruise anyway—without his snobby, socialite fiancée. For the next fourteen days he hopes to escape reality and pretend he hasn’t suffered the humiliation of a lifetime. The last thing he expects is to meet beautiful songstress Jubilee Collazo with her honey-sweet voice.

Jubilee is talented and passionate and doesn’t just march to the beat of her own drum—she dances to it. While she longs to do more than croon cover songs from a cruise ship stage, she enjoys seeing the world. Her love of travel makes her the perfect person to show Blake around each exotic stop of the Mediterranean cruise.

What starts out as a simple tour guide arrangement, quickly grows into something more. Despite their different backgrounds, Blake and Jubilee discover an incredible connection they never imagined possible. But as their final destination approaches, so does reality. Like points on a compass, their lives seem to be charted in opposite directions—his to the Hamptons and high-society, and hers back out across the rolling seas. Can anything short of a perfect storm keep these two lovebirds together?

After Twisted Hate, you might need a light-hearted romance that you can inhale fast and get a shot of serotonin. Vacation Only is perfect for that.

Quick selling points:

  • Vacation romance.
  • Male lead is not the super-confident alpha-male like most leads in books.
  • Singer female lead.
  • Light-hearted, whirlwind romance.

Steam level: average.

P. S. There are many Kindle Unlimited romance books by this author.

6. Fresh Meet by Jasmin Miller

fresh meet by jasmine miller book cover

Fans call me the king of the water. I’m focused, driven, and most importantly, I win.

Life as a professional swimmer comes with sacrifices, but they’ve never worried me. I’m used to life with little room for anything but training, eating, and sleeping.

Nothing more, nothing less.

When a son I knew nothing about lands on my doorstep—and a crazy but very beautiful nanny shortly after—my life is turned upside down. Allowing any change into my life could put my goals and dreams in jeopardy, and I’ve worked too hard and too long for them.

When I’m tempted to look beyond lap times and medals to bedtime stories and the possibility of love, I face one of the hardest questions of my life: is it worth the risk?

This is such a pleasant read! Jace was suddenly handed an infant son and he tries to do his best while also pushing for his dreams. During it, he falls in love with a wonderful woman who is striving for her own goals too.

Quick selling points:

  • Single dad and nanny romance.
  • Athlete male lead.
  • Millie, our other lead, has dyslexia.
  • A very cute kid who communicates by signing.
  • Jace bonding with his son is too precious.
  • Slow relationship development. No instant attraction.

7. Enemies Abroad by R. S. Grey

enemies abroad by r. s. grey

It’s simple: Noah Peterson and I are enemies. Our fellow teachers know it, our friends know it—even the Starbucks drive-through lady knows it since every Monday she scrawls the name A. Hole for me on Noah’s cappuccino when I pick up the weekly group order.

The shrill whine of the school bell announces the start of each day’s no-holds-barred grudge match. Since neither of us is looking to get fired or thrown in prison, we war with our words and our wits. We prefer banter that bites. All day, I’m on edge, looking around every corner, expecting him to do his worst. Just when I think I can’t take the sight of his (regretfully) handsome face for one more minute, the school day is done.

Summer usually offers the sweetest relief—a two-month Noah detox—but not this year.

“We need two volunteers to chaperone a group of eighth graders in Rome” becomes a game of chicken neither one of us is willing to lose. We both want that bonus check.

“Back out,” I tell him.
“Scared?” he taunts.

No one thinks it’s a good idea for us to go to Rome together, least of all me. Taking this battle abroad will only lead to mayhem and misery.

If you want a quick romance that will lift your spirits and isn’t deep, R. S. Grey has you covered. While the author has several romance books on Kindle Unlimited, I’m mentioning this book because it is my favourite out of them all. Mainly because of the ending, not going to lie.

Quick selling points:

  • Rivals to lovers.
  • School teachers who prank each other.
  • They fall in love during a chaperoning trip to Rome.
  • Forced proximity.
  • The guy has always had a thing for her.
  • No third act breakup.

Steam level: Low.

8. The Belle and the Beard by Kate Canterbary

the belle and the beard by kate canterbary

Jasper-Anne Cleary’s guide to salvaging your life when you find yourself publicly humiliated, out of work, and unemployable at 35—not to mention newly single:

1. Run away. Seriously, there’s no shame in disappearing. Go to that rustic old cottage your aunt left you. Look out for the colony of bats and the leaky roof. Oh, and the barrel-chested neighbor with shoulders like the broad side of a barn. Definitely look out for him.

2. Stop wallowing and stay busy. It doesn’t matter whether you know how to bake or fix things around the house. Do it anyway. Dust off your southern hospitality and feed that burly, bearded neighbor some pecan pie.

3. Meet new people. Chat up the grumpy man-bear, pretend to be his girlfriend when his mother puts you two on the spot, agree to go as his date to a big family party. Don’t worry—it’s only temporary.

4. Cry it out. Screwing up your life entitles you to wine, broody-moody music, and uninterrupted sobbing.

5. Get over it all by getting under someone. Count on your fake boyfriend to deliver some very real action between the sheets.

6. Move on. The disappearing act, the cottage, the faux beau—none of it can last forever.

Linden Santillian’s guide to surviving the invasion when a hell-in-heels campaign strategist moves in next door:

1. Do not engage. There is no good reason you should chop her wood, haul her boxes, or pick her apples.

2. Do not accept gifts, especially not the homemade ones. Disconnect the doorbell, toss your phone over a bridge, hide in the basement if you must, but do not eat her pie.

3. Do not introduce her to your friends and family. They’ll favor her over you and never let you forget it.

4. Do not intervene when she’s crying on the back porch. Ignore every desire to fix the entire world for her. By no means should you take her into your arms and memorize her peach-sweet curves.

5. Do not take her to bed, even if it’s just to get her out of your system.

6. Do not, under any circumstances, fall in love with her.

I have to admit, I love romance books where the main characters are in so much trouble in the beginning and have to build back up from scratch. This book’s lead’s career is in shambles and she runs away and finds herself again.

Quick selling points:

  • A+ individual character growth.
  • Small town romance.
  • City girl and small-town guy.
  • Neighbours to lovers.
  • Grumpy man who doesn’t want anyone in his space but can’t help but involve the woman in everything.

Steam level: average.

9. Beg You To Trust Me by B. Celeste

beg you to trust me by b celeste book cover

When I decided to move across the country for college, I thought it’d be the perfect chance to reinvent myself.

But then one party changed the course of my entire freshman year.

And just when I think I’m about to drown in the foggy memories of my night spent partying at the football house, Daniel Bridges walks into my life.

Lindon University’s wide receiver.

A total flirt. And a total threat.

Because he can help take away the memories I do remember from that night.

What I don’t anticipate from the witty football player is the friendship we form as the months go on.

Or how easy it is to fall for him as he teaches me how to trust again…and so much more.

For a change of pace from all the books about reinvention, here’s a book where the main characters are inventing themselves for the first time.

Quick selling points:

  • College romance.
  • Slow burn.
  • Sports romance.
  • Friends to best friends to lovers.
  • The male lead’s energy is unmatched! He is so cute!

Steam level: low.

10. Cinder & Ella by Kelly Oram

cinder and ella

It’s been almost a year since eighteen-year-old Ella Rodriguez was in a car accident that left her crippled, scarred, and without a mother. After a very difficult recovery, she’s been uprooted across the country and forced into the custody of a father that abandoned her when she was a young child. If Ella wants to escape her father’s home and her awful new stepfamily, she must convince her doctors that she’s capable, both physically and emotionally, of living on her own. The problem is, she’s not ready yet. The only way she can think of to start healing is by reconnecting with the one person left in the world who’s ever meant anything to her—her anonymous Internet best friend, Cinder.

Hollywood sensation Brian Oliver has a reputation for being trouble. There’s major buzz around his performance in his upcoming film The Druid Prince, but his management team says he won’t make the transition from teen heartthrob to serious A-list actor unless he can prove he’s left his wild days behind and become a mature adult. In order to douse the flames on Brian’s bad-boy reputation, his management stages a fake engagement for him to his co-star Kaylee. Brian isn’t thrilled with the arrangement—or his fake fiancée—but decides he’ll suffer through it if it means he’ll get an Oscar nomination. Then a surprise email from an old Internet friend changes everything.

I read Cinder & Ella back when I was very into Cinderella retellings and I have to say, it holds up even otherwise. If you want a romance with the online-friends-to-lovers trope, this is perfect.

Quick selling points:

  • Online-friends-to-lovers trope.
  • Cinderella retelling.
  • New adult romance.
  • Cute!

Steam level: None.

11. Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score

things we never got over by Lucy Score

Bearded, bad-boy barber Knox prefers to live his life the way he takes his coffee: Alone. Unless you count his basset hound, Waylon. Knox doesn’t tolerate drama, even when it comes in the form of a stranded runaway bride.

Naomi wasn’t just running away from her wedding. She was riding to the rescue of her estranged twin to Knockemout, Virginia, a rough-around-the-edges town where disputes are settled the old-fashioned way…with fists and beer. Usually in that order.

Too bad for Naomi her evil twin hasn’t changed at all. After helping herself to Naomi’s car and cash, Tina leaves her with something unexpected. The niece Naomi didn’t know she had. Now she’s stuck in town with no car, no job, no plan, and no home with an 11-year-old going on thirty to take care of.

There’s a reason Knox doesn’t do complications or high-maintenance women, especially not the romantic ones. But since Naomi’s life imploded right in front of him, the least he can do is help her out of her jam. And just as soon as she stops getting into new trouble he can leave her alone and get back to his peaceful, solitary life.

At least, that’s the plan until the trouble turns to real danger.

I had heard so much about this book and it lived up to all of my expectations. This is another book where the main character is in a huge MESS and has to build up from scratch again.

Quick selling points:

  • Grumpy x sunshine romance.
  • Small town romance.
  • A cute teenager that the main lead is suddenly in charge of.
  • All the good small-town things!
  • Man OBSESSED with the woman.
  • A small danger element.

Steam level: low.

14. The Bachelor’s Valet by Adren Powell

the bachelor's valet by arden powell book cover

Alphonse Hollyhock is blessed with wealth, class, and more beauty than brains. Though he hasn’t got a lick of wit or magic to his name, he’s perfectly content living life as an airheaded bachelor with his valet—the clever, unflappable Jacobi—by his side to ensure everything runs smoothly. All he lacks, according to his mother, is a wife.

Despite Alphonse’s protests, he’s to marry Aaliyah Kaddour: a bright, headstrong young woman who would probably be charming company if she didn’t threaten everything about Alphonse’s way of life. Marrying means giving up his fashionable flat, his fast car, and, worst of all, it means losing Jacobi.

Perhaps most distressingly, this talk of marriage is bringing all sorts of confusing feelings to the forefront. Because rather than falling for the beautiful girl being pushed into his arms, Alphonse seems to be falling for his valet. Except a man can’t fall in love with another man. Can he?

Meanwhile, Aaliyah has plans of her own. She’s as devious as she is pretty, but if Alphonse wants to get through this marriage business in one piece, he’ll have to trust her. Her and Jacobi, and, most dangerously, his own feelings.

16. Scarred by Emily McIntire

scarred by Emily McIntire

Once Upon A Time,
there was a king who passed.
He left behind two sons,
one beloved and one outcast.
The older of the two was set to take the throne,
but before he could he had to find a queen to call his own.
The younger one was known to be unruly and unhinged.
The chosen queen was warned to keep far away from him.
Beautiful and cunning, in the light is where she stayed.
But late at night, it was the shadowed lands in which she played.
Mistakes were made and secrets forged;
forgetting duty and her sense.
And while the new king had her hand,
her heart belonged to the scarred prince.

Another retelling for the list! Scarred was a random Kindle Unlimited pick that made a huge impression on me. I mainly loved how both the leads had their own agendas and fell in love without meaning to and then went on to take over everything.

Quick selling points:

  • A Lion King retelling with Scar as the hero.
  • Power couple.
  • Fantasy romance.
  • Man is IN. LOVE. with her and would lay down everything for her.

Alone with a baby and desperate for the love she hadn’t found, she turned to a man who sealed his claim of devotion with a diamond ring.

He promised her a family. A life. A future. But his lies had only been a cover for the personal hell he introduced her to daily.

Now, at twenty-five, Madison has long since stopped believing in love. It’s simply not a square on her bingo card.

Balancing single parenthood, three jobs, and online courses, she doesn’t have the time anyway.

So when the broody neighbor living in the other side of her duplex leaves a rude note on her door, she’s not interested.

Not in his dark hair, not in his physique, and definitely not in the dimples she’s only seen a hint of. She’s one hundred percent, absolutely, not interested.

18. Restore Me by J. L. Seegars

Restore Me by J. L. Seegars book cover

Sloane

Dominic Alexander is my late husband’s best friend and the last man on Earth that I should want. He’s arrogant, dismissive, and up until recently has only ever used those dark eyes of his to look right through me. For the last ten years, he’s taken a sick pleasure in making me feel paper thin, like my entire existence is of no consequence to him at all.

But now, things are different.

After one drunken night, and a surprisingly sexy act of heroism, he’s started to be…nice. Treating me like something other than the physical embodiment of his annoyance, which would be nice if it didn’t make me feel all the things I swore to never feel for another man after my husband died.

Dominic

Sloane Kent is going to be my undoing.

What’s worse: I think I’m going to enjoy being unravelled by the gold flecks in her hazel eyes and the adorable little way she scrunches her nose up when we’re arguing, which we’ve done a lot of over the past decade. She thinks it’s because I hate her, and I’ve always let her think that because the alternative is…untenable.

But something is changing between us, and I don’t know how to stop myself from breaking every promise I’ve ever made to myself regarding my best friend’s wife. Promises that include never telling her that there’s a long list of things I feel about her, but hate isn’t one of them.

Restore Me is the kind of addicting romance that you wouldn’t expect to be available on KU. Right from the start, it will HOOK. YOU. IN. The characters, the writing, and the romance are all top-notch. I reread this book within a month because no other book is like this.

Quick selling points:

  • An explosive, obsessive kind of love.
  • Best friend’s widow whom he fell in love with first.
  • He fell in love with her the first time he saw her.
  • Barely friends with benefits which becomes so much more.
  • Hot sex.

19. Cups of You by Karmen Lee

cups of you by karmen lee book cover

Amber Jones is back home…temporarily. In 6 months, she plans to drive away from the town that still holds painful memories and back to her big city life. But a newcomer with a voice like the darkest roast and an ever-present smile unexpectedly makes returning to the hustle and bustle of the city, and the boyfriend she shares it with, seem much less appealing.

Benjamin Murphy moved to Millensville for his ex-wife, but even after their very public split, he remained in the town that embraced him and his now teenaged daughter as one of their own. When a gorgeous woman from the city walks into his quaint coffee shop, not even her dour expression is enough to keep him from trying to catch one more glimpse of her smile.

These two seem like total opposites, but when the old adage of opposites attracting seems to hold true, will Amber and Benjamin be able to bridge the gaps between them and find love, or will their common ground crumble beneath the weight of their differences?

Reading Cups of You is like going into your comfort coffee shop which is cozy and not crowded. I loved that it had great supporting characters. The book also touches on how Black women have to be tough to survive.

Quick selling points:

  • Grumpy gf and sunshine bf (this trope is done SO WELL in this book.)
  • The cutest sunshine barista male lead.
  • Girlboss woman who is at a turning in her life.
  • Small town romance.
  • Single parent romance.
  • Slow burn!

The marriage is fake. But for a sassy chef and an arrogant billionaire, the sparks are real…

Jackson “The Beast” Boudreaux is rich, gorgeous, and unbelievably rude to the staff at Chef Bianca Hardwick’s New Orleans restaurant. Bianca would sooner douse herself in hot sauce than cook for Jackson again, but when he asks her to cater his fund-raiser, Bianca can’t refuse, knowing the cash will help pay her mother’s medical bills. Then Jackson makes another outrageous request: Marry me. The unconventional offer includes an enormous sum—money Bianca desperately needs, even if it does come with a contract — and a stunning ring.

The heir to a family bourbon dynasty, Jackson knows the rumors swirling around him. The truth is even darker. Still, he needs a wife to secure his inheritance, and free-spirited, sassy Bianca would play the part beautifully. Soon, though, their simple business deal evolves into an emotional intimacy he’s built walls to avoid.

As the passion heats up between them, Bianca and Jackson struggle to define which feelings are real and which are for show. Is falling for your fake fiancé the best happy ending… or a recipe for disaster?

A grumpy man with baggage who completely falls for a gorgeous and talented woman and immediately went to her when he needed to get married? Sold!

Honestly, the best part about this book was Bianca. She was AMAZING. She stomped all the regular miscommunication that happens in most fake dating romances and made this book something new.

Quick selling points:

  • Marriage-of-convenience trope.
  • Grumpy x sunshine romance.
  • She is the owner of a very successful restaurant.
  • He needs to get married to not lose his trust money.
  • An opinionated and meddling butler.
  • Bianca is The Best.

21. Marriage For One by Ella Maise

marriage for one book cover

Jack and I, we did everything backward. The day he lured me into his office-which was also the first day we met-he proposed. You’d think a guy who looked like him-a bit cold maybe, but still striking and very unattainable-would only ask the love of his life to marry him, right? You’d think he must be madly in love.

Nope. It was me he asked. A complete stranger who had never even heard of him. A stranger who had been dumped by her fiancé only weeks before. You’d think I’d laugh in his face, call him insane-and a few other names-then walk away as quickly as possible. Well…I did all those things except the walking away part.

It took him only minutes to talk me into a business deal…erm, I mean marriage, and only days for us to officially tie the knot. Happiest day of my life. Magical. Pop the champagne… Not. It was the worst day. Jack Hawthorne was nothing like what I’d imagined for myself. I blamed him for my lapse in judgment. I blamed his eyes, the ocean blue eyes that looked straight into mine unapologetically, and that frown on his face I had no idea I would become so fascinated with in time.

It wasn’t long after he said I was the biggest mistake of his life that things started to change. No, he still didn’t talk much, but anyone can string a few words together. His actions spoke the loudest to me. And day after day my heart started to get a mind of its own.

One second he was no one. The next he became everything.
One second he was unattainable. The next he seemed to be completely mine.
One second I thought we were in love. The next it was still nothing but a lie.

After all, I was Rose and he was Jack. We were doomed from the very beginning with those names. Did you expect anything else?

I love love LOVE this book. It is one of my best adult romance novels. The marriage of convenience trope with a man who fell in love with her on sight and cannot stop himself from helping her. It has ALL the protective scenes.

Quick selling points:

  • Marriage of convenience.
  • Man fell for the woman the first time he saw her.
  • Whipped man with a broody personality and a soft ambitious woman.
  • Features the building and running of a coffee shop.
  • He helps her with her coffee shop dream.
  • Grumpy and sunshine trope.
  • Slow burn romance.

22. The Bombshell Effect by Karla Sorensen

the bombshell effect books cover

Allie Sutton just got a new job.

Not one she wants, and definitely not one she’s prepared for. She hadn’t seen her dad in years, so the last thing she expects upon his sudden death is to inherit the thing he loved more than anything (or anyone) … the professional football team he owned for the last twenty years.

Luke Pierson does not want a new boss.

What he wants is to be a good father to his daughter, the best quarterback possible for his teammates. What he doesn’t need is a blonde bombshell ruining the team’s chances at another championship. Especially when that bombshell turns out to be his new neighbor. The neighbor he was a complete jerk to the first time they met.

For the sake of the team, they treat each other like complete professionals. In public, at least. Behind closed doors, it’s a different story. And the fallout of giving in to that heat is something neither one of them can see coming.

This had a different take on sports romance. Allie and Luke are very attractive people who start off on the wrong foot but have to work together. This book has a great romance but also has a really good focus on individual growth, specifically Allie’s.

Quick selling points:

  • Footballer male lead.
  • Woman who owns the football team.
  • Single dad romance.
  • Neighbours to friends-with-benefits to lovers.

Steam level: Average.

23. From The Top by Jaqueline Snowe

from the top

Falling for the dance captain was never part of the plan…

Cami Simpson is the ‘it girl’—at least until a string of terrible decisions leads to no boyfriend, no captainship of the dance team, and no fancy apartment. Due to a mold outbreak at her place, she’s forced to relocate to a co-ed dorm as a senior. And to top it off, she finds out she’s at risk of not graduating due to an error in her schedule. Talk about the worst senior year ever.

Frederick Brady the IV would never admit the massive crush he once had on the dance darling. Not to anyone. They’d almost had a moment a year ago, but she crushed him, so she’s the last person he wants to live next to. It doesn’t matter though. He’s on his way out to an internship and almost done with school where he can leave his heartbreak and data foes behind.

Neither expected to form a friendship or know what to do about their insane chemistry. With late nights, insides jokes, and the rare comfort they find in each other… lines blur, and the popular girl gets with the nerdy guy. Only, Freddie’s done this before and knows how it ends. His insecurities clash with Cami’s need to be picked first, so when Freddie has to choose where to attend his internship, he can either pick the job or the girl. And for the guy who’s set on protecting his heart, well, he might break hers in the process.

A new release that has everyone SWOONING. And this is another book where the main character is in a huge mess and has to find her footing again.

Quick selling points:

  • Roommates-to-lovers.
  • Popular girl and energy guy romance.
  • College romance.
  • Great chemistry.

Steam level: average.

24. Single Dad Seeks Juliet by Max Monroe

single dad seeks juliet by max monroe book cover

Dear Internet: Am I a horrible person for wanting to sabotage my work assignment—completely wreck a dating contest—because I hate the idea of love?

I know it sounds bad, but just hear me out, okay?

I (33F) work at a local paper, and two months ago, my editor assigned me a huge project—run the upcoming, highly anticipated Bachelor Anonymous contest.

In essence, I’m supposed to help a reader-nominated bachelor find his special someone, and while I should be excited to handle something of this magnitude solo, I can’t help but get queasy over how gross it feels.

Like, how cheesy could this thing get?

Not to mention, I’m the last person who should be involved in this—my dating and relationship history is a cluster. Generally, the person in charge of these things shouldn’t fantasize about lighting the whole three-ring dating circus on fire.

Anyway, men from all over Southern California, vying for the coveted bachelor role, submitted their personal ads to my paper. The readers voted, and Single Dad Seeks Juliet won by a landslide.

Enter Mr. Bachelor Anonymous (40M), the single dad Romeo seeking his Juliet

Blah, blah, blah, right? Wrong.

You guys—and I cannot stress this enough—this guy is the ultimate man in a six-foot-three, chiseled-muscle, freaking Adonis package with aquamarine eyes that would haunt the dreams of an insomniac.

He’s a former Navy SEAL, successful business owner, motocross-riding, charming, supportive, funny-as-heck single dad, and the more time I spend with him, the more I want to bring this contest thing crumbling to the ground for an entirely different reason.

Real talk: I think I’m falling for him.

Me, the woman who despises love, might be falling for the completely off-limits Bachelor who I’m ironically assigned to help find love, while five other women think they’re the only contestants competing for his heart.

So, Internet. Am I scum? Or is all fair in love and war?

Going into this book, I did not expect it to be as cute and nice as it turned out! The synopsis sounds pretty cheesy but the love story flows so smoothly. The book is funny, interesting, and entertaining.

Quick selling points:

  • Former Navy SEAL single dad.
  • Journalist who is recovering from a long toxic relationship.
  • Charming, dependable, loving man & outspoken, clumsy, lovable woman.
  • A well-intentioned meddling teenage daughter.
  • Great chemistry with lots of banter.
  • Slow burn romance.
  • Tall man and short woman.

Steam level: Low.

25. Brutal Prince by Sophie Lark

brutal prince by sophie lark

He’s No Prince Charming…

Callum Griffin is the heir to the Irish Mafia. He’s ruthless, arrogant, and he wants to kill me.

We got off on the wrong foot when I set a (very small) fire in his house.

Our families believe a marriage pact is the only thing that will prevent all-out warfare.

I think I might need to murder him while he sleeps.

This would all be a lot easier if Callum wasn’t so damned good-looking.

But I’ve got a lockbox around my heart. Because even if I’m forced to marry him…

I could never love a brutal prince.

I never thought I would like a mafia romance this much but Brutal Prince defied my expectations. If you want a romance that also involves a ton of politics and danger and action, this is for you.

Quick selling points:

  • Literal enemies-to-lovers.
  • Mafia romance.
  • Lots of action.
  • A+ chemistry.

Steam level: High.

26. Stuck-Up Suit by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward

stuck-up suit

It started out like any other morning on the train.
Until I became mesmerized by the guy sitting across the aisle.
He was barking at someone on his phone like he ruled the world.
Who did the stuck-up suit think he was…God?
Actually, he looked like a God. That was about it.
When his stop came, he got up suddenly and left. So suddenly, he dropped his phone on the way out.
I might have picked it up.
I might have gone through all of his photos and called some of the numbers.
I might have held onto the mystery man’s phone for days―until I finally conjured up the courage to return it.
When I traipsed my ass across town to his fancy company, he refused to see me.
So, I left the phone on the empty desk outside the arrogant jerk’s office.
I might have also left behind a dirty picture on it first though.
I didn’t expect him to text back.
I didn’t expect our exchanges to be hot as hell.
I didn’t expect to fall for him―all before we even met.
The two of us couldn’t have been any more different.
Yet, you know what they say about opposites.
When we finally came face to face, we found out opposites sometimes do more than attract―we consumed each other.
Nothing could have prepared me for the ride he took me on. And I certainly wasn’t prepared for where I’d wind up when the ride was over.
All good things must come to an end, right?
Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.

This author pairing never fails to deliver quick, steamy romance books. Stuck-up Suit is definitely one of the best (out of the ones that I’ve read).

Quick selling points:

  • Grumpy x sunshine romance.
  • Epistolary romance.
  • Addicting to read.
  • HOT.

Steam level: High.

27. Here’s to Falling by Christine Zolendz

here's to falling

Every girl has that one guy…that one guy who steals her heart and never gives it back.

We were all friends…until we weren’t.
We depended on each other…until we couldn’t.
We were in love…until we were ripped apart.
We moved on…even when we didn’t want to let go.

This is our love story.

Here’s to Falling is a book that I read wayy back during my initial romance days and it is STILL in my head. If you want a book that is raw and will make you FEEL, this is for you.

Quick selling points:

  • Childhood-friends-to-lovers.
  • THIS WILL BREAK YOUR HEART.
  • All the characters have very traumatic baggage to deal with.

Steam level: Low.

28. Fighting Redemption by Kate McCarthy

fighting redemption

Ryan Kendall is broken. He understands pain. He knows the hand of violence and the ache of loss. He knows what it means to fail those who need you. Being broken doesn’t stop him wanting the one thing he can’t have; Finlay Tanner. Her smile is sweet and her future bright. She’s the girl he grew up with, the girl he loves, the girl he protects from the world, and from himself.

At nineteen, Ryan leaves to join the Australian Army. After years of training he becomes an elite SAS soldier and deploys to the Afghanistan war. His patrol undertakes the most dangerous missions a soldier can face. But no matter how far he runs, or how hard he fights, his need for Finlay won’t let go.

Returning home after six years, one look is all it takes to know he can’t live without her. But sometimes love isn’t enough to heal what hurts. Sometimes people like him can’t be fixed, and sometimes people like Finlay deserve more than what’s left.

This is a story about war and the cost of sacrifice. Where bonds are formed, and friendships found. Where those who are strong, fall hard. Where love is let go, heartache is born, and heroes are made. Where one man learns that the hardest fight of all, is the fight to save himself.

Another book that is raw with harsh feelings and will make you cry.

Quick selling points:

  • Soldier main lead.
  • Brother’s best friend romance.
  • Slow burn.

Steam level: Average.

29. Leo by Mia Sheridan

leo

Evie and Leo met in foster care as children and formed a bond of friendship. As they grew, their bond turned to love, and they vowed to make a life together when they turned 18 and were no longer a part of the system.

When Leo unexpectedly gets adopted as a teen and moves to another city, he promises Evie that he will contact her as soon as he gets there and come back for her in a few short years. She never hears from him again.

Now eight years later, in spite of the odds, Evie has made a life for herself. She has a job. She has friends. She’s content. Then a man shows up out of the blue, claiming that her long lost love, Leo, sent him to check up on her. The attraction between them is undeniable. But, should she trust this sexy stranger? Or is he keeping a secret about what his connection to Leo is really all about and why Leo disappeared all those years ago?

I couldn’t stop with only two heart-breaking romance book recommendations, so here’s another.

Quick selling points:

  • Opposites attract.
  • Both leads have a ton of baggage.
  • Will make your heart ache.
  • I want to say more but if I do, they will be spoilers so I won’t.

Steal level: Low.

30. The Hooker And The Hermit by L. H. Cosway and Penny Reid

the hooker and the hermit

New York’s Finest
Blogging as *The Socialmedialite*
April 22
LADIES AND GENTS! I have an announcement!

You know that guy I featured on my blog a few months ago? The really, really hot Irish rugby player who plays the position of ‘hooker’ in the RLI (Rugby League International)? The one with the anger management issues, the body of a gladiator and the face of a movie star? The one with the questionable fashion choices leading me to ask whether he was the lovechild of a leprechaun and a hobbit? Ronan Fitzpatrick? Yeah, that guy.

Well, I have a confession to make…

THE HERMIT

Annie Catrel, social media expert extraordinaire at Davidson & Croft Media and clandestine celebrity blogger, can make anyone shine in the court of public opinion. She is the Socialmedialite, anonymous creator of New York’s Finest and the internet’s darling. Virtual reality is Annie’s forte, but actual reality? Not so much.

THE HOOKER

Ronan Fitzpatrick, aka the best hooker the world of rugby has seen in decades, despises the media—social or otherwise. The press has spun a web of lies depicting him as rugby’s wild and reckless bad boy. Suspended from his team, Ronan has come to Manhattan to escape the drama, lay low, fly under the radar. Only, Ronan isn’t easy to overlook, and he can’t escape the notice of the Socialmedialite…

THE PLAN

When Ronan is sent to Davidson & Croft Media to reshape his public image, he never expects to cross paths with shy but beautiful Annie, nor does he expect his fierce attraction to her. He couldn’t be happier when her boss suggests pairing them together.

What lengths will Annie take to keep her virtual identity concealed? And what happens when the hooker discovers who the hermit really is?

Let’s end the list on a better note with a comfort book. The Hooker and the Hermit is a low-key romance where the characters get to know each other and have a bit of domesticity while also chasing their own dreams.

Quick selling points:

  • Double identity.
  • Introverted blogger main lead.
  • Rugby player main lead.
  • Sports romance.
